AI Book Club: Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo In-Person
Identity. History. Love. Let’s talk about it, with a little AI help.
Malinda Lo’s National Book Award–winning novel has been challenged in multiple states for its LGBTQ+ themes. Set in 1950s Chinatown, it offers a powerful look at identity, belonging, and courage. AI tools allow us to examine how historical narratives are represented—and sometimes distorted—by algorithms.
Copies available at the front desk.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Compare AI-generated historical depictions to real sources
-
Explore intersectional identity in AI outputs
-
Analyze tone, place, and narrative voice
Why it’s banned: LGBTQ+ themes, romantic content, “inappropriate for age group” claims.
