AI Book Club: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou In-Person
When books are banned, what questions aren’t being asked?
Join us as we read Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, a profound and frequently challenged memoir. Together, we’ll use AI to explore key themes, identify why the book is often censored, and uncover historical context that shapes both the story and its reception.
Copies of the book are available at the front desk for checkout in advance of the session.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Use AI to generate discussion prompts and uncover context
-
Explore how narrative voice and personal truth are processed in large language models
-
Talk about how AI can both amplify and misrepresent marginalized voices
Bring your device if you have one, but there's no technology experience required - just an open mind! This session includes a casual guided conversation, AI exploration, and plenty of room for curiosity.
