Join us for a fascinating journey into the world of trees with Smithsonian Horticulturist Matthew Fleming, as he explores the awe-inspiring giants of the plant kingdom through The Tree Book: The Stories, Science, and History of Trees.

For millennia, trees have shaped human civilization—providing shelter, tools, fuel, and food, while also sustaining life by enriching the atmosphere with oxygen. They form breathtaking landscapes, create intricate ecosystems, and hold deep cultural and historical significance.

Now, the rich and complex world of forests and woodlands is unveiled in this stunning visual guide, which examines the science, anatomy, and behaviors of trees, as well as their ecological importance. From towering redwoods and ancient oaks to lush banyans and majestic kapoks, The Tree Book offers an in-depth look at these remarkable organisms and their enduring impact on our world.

Blending natural history with scientific insight, symbolism, and mythology, this discussion will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the remarkable role trees play in our lives.
