Intergenerational World Rhythms Concert
Denya LeVine is a fiddler, singer, ukulele player and percussion band leader. World Rhythms is a program of dance rhythms and tempos from many regions. It incorporates a multi-cultural sing along, humor, movement and participatory rhythm band. You’ll hear familiar beats, new beats, and easy-to-learn rhythms from around the world. This is spirited, energetic, interactive fun and will delight adults and children alike!
Denya has been performing on Cape Cod and in southeastern Massachusetts for 40 years. With her roots in classical, folk and Jewish music, she fell in love with Irish music and culture in the 1970’s. She grew up in Sharon, MA, worked at The Fillmore East [rock music theater] in New York City, and lived in Afghanistan, India, Belgium, England and Ireland. She makes her home in Wellfleet, on Cape Cod. Her repertoire covers music from 15 countries and songs in 5 languages.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
